The Railway Procurement Agency (RPA), on 24th June 2010, applied to An Bord Pleanála for a Railway Order for Luas Broombridge (St. Stephen’s Green to Broombridge). This order, if granted, would permit RPA to construct, operate and maintain a light railway line between St. Stephen’s Green and Broombridge.

Environmental Impact Statement and Environmental Impact Statement Non - Technical Summary

This Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) has been prepared to accompany the Railway Order application for Luas Broombridge (Line BXD St. Stephen’s Green to Broombridge). For the purposes of this EIS and ease of local identification and interest, the proposed scheme has been divided into two areas: Area 29 and Area 30. The EIS is published as five separate books (Book 1 – 5) and a Non-Technical Summary (NTS) as follows:

Non-Technical Summary (NTS)

The NTS has been prepared as part of the Luas Broombridge Railway Order application. Written in non-technical language, it presents the key findings in respect of the construction and operation of the Luas Broombridge scheme. The detail in relation to all topics outlined in this book is presented in the main EIS, Books 1-5 inclusive.

Written Submissions

An Bord Pleanála will consider any submissions in relation to the proposed Railway Order or in relation to the likely effects on the environment of the proposed railway works which are submitted in writing to it by any person and accompanied by a fee of €50. (This fee is not payable by certain bodies with environmental responsibilities or by persons whose lands may be acquired under the order). Submissions must be lodged not later than the 13th day of August 2010 at 5:30pm and must be addressed to An Bord Pleanála, 64 Marlborough Street, Dublin 1 and marked Luas Broombridge.


Oral Hearing

An Bord Pleanála may at its absolute discretion hold an oral hearing into the application for a Railway Order.
